I didn’t realize what a wonderful holiday Thanksgiving is until I hosted one last year for all my London friends. It was an international group with guests from Georgia (the country ;-), France, Poland, Spain, Israel, Bulgaria, Sweden, Ireland, Netherlands, Italy, Japan, Sudan, Syria and Morocco.

No other culture or country has a day when appreciating life is the only requirement. Seeing Thanksgiving from their point of view gave me a whole new appreciation of what this day is really about. Over and over again I was told how wonderful it is to have a celebration unrelated to religion and with no pressure or obligation to bring gifts (aside from wine and dessert). The only thing Thanksgiving requires of us is to be thankful for something. Feeling grateful is a glorious feeling. Enjoy it, it’s good for you.
